Global Swine Flu Vaccinations Scheduled

National Campaigns Preparing Population For Mass Injections

Greece and France are just two of the nations planning a mass vaccination program for population, while United States (U.S.) residents have fear same will occur to them.

This may sound like a plot from a Hollywood movie, however, many nations around the world are preparing to give their entire population the swine flu (H1N1) vaccination by the end of 2010. Some countries are admitting that these injections will be forced, while others claim that it will be on a voluntary basis only.

Greece Announces Forced Vaccination Plan

In August, Health Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos announced that all citizens and residents will be vaccinated against the swine flu with no exceptions. Greece is expecting the majority of vaccines to start arriving in January. A health minister official, who remained anonymous, admitted that Greece is "'only waiting for the European Unions approval to start vaccinating everyone,'" according to an August 3, 2009 Free Press International article "Greece Announces Forced Swine Flu Vaccination for All 12 Million Citizens."

In addition, it was recently released that Greece will have enough of the vaccine to give the optional vaccinations for high-risk individuals soon after October 15, 2009. The injections will be free, according to the September 1, 2009 GR Reporter article "Free Swine Flu Vaccination."

France Secretly Planning Forced Vaccinations

In an interview last month, Health Minister Roselyne Bachelot said that the "campaign will be free of charge and will not be obligatory," according to the August 28, 2009 Associated Press Article "France to Launch Flu Vaccine Campaign in October." However, a leaked internal government document signed by Minister Bachelot describes a procedure for vaccinating all citizens and residents in secured centers. This includes "mobile injection squads" who will travel to each school within the entire country, according to Paul Joseph Watson in an August 31, 2009 Prison Planet.com article "French Government Plans Mass Swine Flu Vaccination Program."

The French Government has not issued a response regarding this leaked document.

Forced Vaccinations in U.S.?

There are at least three areas of concern regarding vaccinations in the U.S.:

  • The most alarming news out of the U.S. is the Massachusetts (MA) bill that recently passed in the Senate. The "Pandemic Response Bill" is not yet law, as at least one article has been claiming. It is currently awaiting review by the House, according to Chelsea Schilling in the September 1, 2009 WorldNet Daily article "Cops Jump on Swine Flu Power: Shots Heard 'Round the World." The Bill takes the worse case scenario of an emergency pandemic where authorities can forcibly enter the home to vaccinate and/or quarantine an individual. It reads as if members of the MA legislature have been watching too many movies where people are dying left and right. If the Swine Flu ever reaches this stage, a $1000 fine and some jail time, as required in the bill, will be the least of their worries;

  • The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the military's involvement are also a concern in the U.S. According to FoxNews.com, the Pentagon is preparing to make troops available to assist FEMA in any possible outbreak this fall. However, the military is maintaining that they would be providing support to civilian authorities where assistance is needed, not heading the campaign; and,

  • In mid-October, school-children are set to be the first vaccinated in a "mass campaign not seen since the Polio epidemics of the 1950s," according to David Brown and Spencer S. Hsu in the July 10, 2009 Washington Post article "School-Age Children to Get First Vaccinations."

Dangers of the Swine Flu Vaccine

All the concerns mentioned above can be summed-up with one final concern: what are the dangers? In 1976, 500 people came down with Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare neurodegenerative disease. "Now, U.S. health officials are considering a fall immunization campaign that could involve an unprecedented 600 million doses . . . .," according to Amanda Gardner in the July 21, 2009 U.S. News & World Report/ HealthDay article "Safety of Swine Flu Vaccine to Face Tough Scrutiny." However, the government is already better able to deal with large-scale vaccinations than they were in 1976, "with experts basing decisions on entirely different factors," continued Gardner.

On August 21, 2009 the Director of the the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, stated in a press conference that the clinical trials are going well and the vaccination appears safe, according to an August 21, 2009 Medline Plus/HealthDay article "Swine Flu Vaccine Seems Safe in Early Trials." Trials are beginning this month on pregnant women. Regardless of the possible safety of the shots, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius has recently signed a document giving legal immunity to vaccine makers and federal officials, according to the Associated Press in a July 20, 2009 MSNBC article "Legal Immunity Set For Swine Flu Vaccine Makers."

A number of other nations are scheduling vaccination programs all over the world, with only a few appearing mandatory. However, the next few months should be watched very closely as more and more programs start taking shape.
